Off-ice Training Ideas (many for athleticism)

Quite a few years back I thought it might be a good idea to record as many of my High School Prep Team’s off-season, off-ice training drills as possible.

In a way, I wanted to save those for posterity.  Members will likely see hundreds more drills over time, but many of the ones shown here are rather unique.

I’m big on training for athleticism, and a lot of the drills shown here are excellent for that.  Most of the drills can also be adapted for use anywhere.  And, with some common sense, many of them can be used by players from an intermediate level on up.

Oh, and about the equipment…  Hockey is what I’ve done for decades, meaning that I had it in my budget to purchase some fairly expensive gear.

Still, I’ve always liked using less pricey or even homemade training aids, just so my players or students would understand that most of the drills and equipment were within their reach.

If you don’t understand a drill — in any way, just ask.  Answering your questions is why I’m here.  It’s even possible that some members have some ideas about adapting my drills.
