A Beginner’s Guide to Watching Ice Hockey

An Audio Book

Aaaaaaaah… There truly is a story behind this story…

You see, a new Facebook friend happened to ask me how she might learn about ice hockey. My short answer was to send her to the “Free to Non-members” area to find whatever she thought might help.

As it turned out, she meant that she didn’t have a clue about hockey, and that everything on my site was far beyond her current understanding.

Right about then I slapped myself in the forehead, and mumbled something to the effect that, “I’ve known countless people over the years who hadn’t a clue about our game!”

As a matter of fact, I can recall the first time my dad and uncle took me to a Boston Bruins game. I was about 9-years old, and — at a time when hockey wasn’t carried on television — that was the first time I’d ever seen the game. And, I can tell you that some of the fun was gone when I couldn’t understand the numerous stoppages in the action.

What I’m saying is that: 1) I suddenly remembered what it was like to be in my new Facebook friend’s shoes, and 2) I was a little disappointed in myself for not already creating something to accommodate such needs.

With all that, here’s my first attempt at solving the problem at hand…

Now, I can almost bet that there will be a follow-up to the above audio book, be it a more in depth approach to hockey’s basics, or even a video. But of course, I’d love your feedback on all of this.

PS: Knowing my hockey friends are far beyond the above audio book, I’d love it if you’d share it with anyone who could use that kind of help.
