Introducing Hockey Flashcards

Above is a sample of the “Rules for Winners” flashcards.  The difference for our members is that the full flashcards (coming soon) will be controllable.

From a learning perspective, here’s what I recommend:

  • Adult players can obviously test themselves.
  • Parents, like the adult players, should be able to adjust the pace of advancing through the program.
  • My recommendation to coaches is that they isolate on only one or two (or three) principles per week.  As an introduction, I’d spend a few minutes prior to or after a practice discussing those few points, perhaps using some of the ideas highlighted in the earlier provided Rules for Winners audio.  I suggest spending as much as a week on just a few principles, so that coaches can first dwell on teaching them, next holding a number of out-of-the-blue quizzes on those few principles, and then eventually asking various players to explain a principle to their teammates.

Personally, I think the best coaches (and parents) can make this kind of learning fun.

Got questions?  I’d like to hear them.  And any exchange down below would likely be beneficial to other members.
