Coach Chic’s Hockey Podcast #8

  • My apologies that this show is about some months out of step, and is basically centered around coaches, parents and players readying for winter holiday tournaments.  I guarantee the stuff mentioned here will put you ahead of others, though.
  • Interestingly, I was readying for an online coaching get-together way back then, too.
  • Lastly, we used to provide a separate page just for listener comments. However, I now invite you to add comments down below.  I really would appreciate your input.

Boy, this is true! One of the thing that drives me crazy is a people that left his game jersey at home with a 1 hour drive time to get it!

I used to tell the old “Wally Pipp story” to my older players, Rob. It’s said that Pipp had a headache one day, to which the New York Yankees’ manager suggested he take the day off in favor of a young kid named Lou Gehrig. Gehrig had a good day at the plate, and thus started his string of playing in 2,130 consecutive games. There are several variations of that story, but it’s always suited my purpose to suggest that there is always another player waiting to take your place the one time you miss even a few minutes of a practice or game — even if it’s because of a missing helmet screw, a broken skate lace, whatever.
