What To Really Do During The Off-season

If you didn’t know by now, there is a lot of bad — or misguided — information out there, when it comes to off-season training advice.  Most hockey seasons are winding down right now, so I thought this a good time to offer my two cents worth.

Really, I have some great stuff planned for coming weeks and months, and the contents of the nearby video should provide an awesome background to much of that.  Number One, of course, is that I have to convince you that the coming off-season can actually be THE most important time of the entire year for catching or passing others.

One thing I failed to mention in that video, though, and I hope you’ll think along with me here…  For the most part, everyone on a team develops at roughly the same pace.  Sure, some players experience spurts, while others might hit some setbacks.  But the coaching they get for the longest stretch of a year is pretty much the same.

For sure, players are wise to do some in-season training on their own. However, the best time of year for growth is the coming off-season, when there’s no one else in charge of your development.

Lastly, I might suggest that members browse through past posts for ideas to apply over coming months.  Then, be watching for future posts that will be specifically aimed at your off-season training.

PS:  Members might soon expect an audio recording of the above video, so that it might be listened to for ideas while you travel, work or exercise.  I find I’ve arrived at tons of new ideas — and hear new things — while doing just that.
