Hockey Stats

Everyone has their own way of weighing individual player stats.  Having worked at nearly every level of our game, though, I think I can share some special insight that others might not have yet considered.

    Very insightful. Stats are all relative to the context of the player’s overall contribution to the success of the team.

      Thanks, and that’s about right, Erik. To me, stats are a tool.

      If you think about it, though, the only thing really carved in stone in hockey is the last team standing after the final playoff game. That team may or may not include the best player, the best offensive player, the best defensive player, the best goaltender, or the best individual at anything. And that means that even being the best at something only goes so far.
