Meet “Joe”

Although I’ve made this video and special tool available for public viewing, some training devices to come will only be available to certain levels of this site.

With that, if you want to know how a sick coaching mind has functioned all these years (LOL):

My grandson is now over 30 years old, but this tool goes back to when he was about 6.  (Pardon the background in these video clips, but we were still in the process of moving, and I was still in the process of discovering numerous training aids I had in storage for a very long time.)

Your thoughts?

PS:  In anticipation of some folks asking Joe’s dimensions…

I had just moved several blocks of wood from the side of my driveway, as I was raking and Anthony was shooting on his net.  I picked that block because it seemed pretty heavy — at 4″ x 4″ and 20″ long.

It wasn’t until the cold weather started setting in that I decided to paint that block and fancy it up a bit.

You might not have noticed but, there’s a stick-blade painted on each side (for Anthony to aim at), and the “Joe” and 1993 (the year it was made) adorn the top.

As a PSS: If you notice what took place at the end of the above video, I approached “Joe”, banked a pass off “him”, and then retrieved the ball as in a typical give-and-go. And that’s what I ultimately had Anthony doing in the driveway: starting far from his net, banking the give-and-go off “Joe” somewhere near the midpoint, and then grab the return pass for a shot on goal. Oh, and he learned discipline from his earliest years, by working passes from both his forehand and his backhand.
